Gender Perspective in Building (Implementation and Promotion) the National Strategy for Fight against Trafficking in Human Beings
  Mission
The Research Center in Gender Studies promotes scientific and academic legitimacy of the subject area of gender studies. In accordance with this mission, the Center conducts scientific and theoretic research in the area, publishes original research studies as well as translations of the most relevant work in the area and organizes events. The aim of the latter is to contribute towards introduction of gender studies in the higher education institutions. Gender studies are research and academic area which is interdisciplinarily structured from the spheres of social sciences and humanities. Philosophy, political sciences, psychology, sociology, literature and cultural studies, history, linguistics, anthropology, economy and law are being studied from gender perspective in order to understand the ways in which the gender conditioned identities are structured. Gender studies deal with the issues of gender roles, of the identity and the positions of woman and the man in the society, in different historical periods and in different geographical spaces. Also, gender studies represent “re-reading,” thorough critical rethinking of the effect that ideology of patriarchy had on the shapes of knowledge structuring and legitimizing.

The Center in Gender Studies is a leader in numerous regional initiatives in the area of gender and women’s studies. This position is tight knitted with the methodological conviction according to which it is necessary that the scientific thought be contextually situated. Therefore, RCGS insists on gender studies as a research as well as an academic area, to a considerable extent dedicated to the specific issues pertinent to the context of Southeastern Europe, which will also contribute to building the public policies in all areas of the society.
